Joanne Smith- master KABK

26-09-2014

“I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and came to study my Masters degree in the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. The two year Masters programme was an exciting challenge for me and during my studies I was able to meet and work with many inspiring Dutch designers. The focus of my work has always
been about redesigning abandoned buildings. What drives me most is when intense research can be developed into a realistic and exciting plan, especially when design can socially engage local participants. I feel very honoured to be nominated for the BNI award as it is a great opportunity to share my final
graduation project and meet likeminded designers. After graduating I plan on staying in the Netherlands to find work as an interior architect specialised in reuse of vacant buildings.”
